Jet Jaguar 'Four' remix #4 Andrew Loughnan

I'm releasing 'Four' on Sunday, 1st July.  Over the week I'll serve up each of the 7 remixes that make up half the tracks, along with the relevant original track.  At any time, check in on the Soundcloud set for the album to listen to all the tracks uploaded so far, including a free download of one of the originals, 'Awry Smile'.  You can pre-order the album as a $5 DL or $15 CD too.

Bearded man playing music

Andrew Loughnan has released a bunch of moody instrumental hip-hop gear as Group Five, and has recently made the call to switch to just going by his own name.  He's a man of genuinely catholic tastes, often plundering the Second Viennese School or German free jazz records for sample fodder.  Out of love, not to be a pain.

Unlike the other remixers I roped in, I've known Andrew since before I wrote the original tracks. He was the only one of the (comparitively) old guard I roped in because I thought he'd fit with the younger beatmakers nicely.  His take on 'Radio Rhodes' uses much more of the original pallette of the original than NAT WLKR did, but shifts the rhythms in tricky ways and brings in plenty of crust.

I already wrote about the original track when writing up NAT WLKR's mix on Sunday, but here it is again for you.
