Weekly MP3 #214: Holy Other - Touch

Moody weirdo beats tracks, available via Epitonic. Here's a fan vid.
Implied dance music?
OK that might be the most wanky thing I've written since leaving uni, but the track is basically a contemporary UK garage sound (house tempo, shuffled rhythms, housey synth bass, chopped R&B vox, builds and drops based around loops) but with so much stripped back and so much reverb added in that it no longer sounds like a dance track. The result is awesomely moody, without being cartoonish, and it's a thing of beauty when the tempo fluidly shifts around almost imperceptibly.
The label this producer is on, Tri Angle Records, is ridiculously cool. I like a tiny chunk of their output to date, so slept on this one. Turns out this affectedly anonymous producer is pretty great. I guess the name didn't help either. Presumably a crap pun on the homophones "wholly"/"holy"?
