Weekly MP3 #210: Spanova - Absentminded

Goddamn cheery trip-hop kinda business, from betterPropaganda.

Things take a while to get going, with a long intro built around a simple repeating riff and drawn out horns, but it all switches up abruptly to a very nice head-nodding thing. There's lots of layers of little things happening before Weird, wordless vocals spell out the melody that's been foreshadowed in the first half of the track.

One half of this Japanese duo was in another duo, Some Water & Sun. I linked to one of Some Water and Sun's tunes back in my first year of weekly mp3s, as well as a tune by the other half of Some Water And Sun, John Hughes, earlier this year. So if I can link to something by the other half of Spanova some kind of circle will be complete, I guess. :)
